BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE LIBRARY


Nabagram Hiralal Paul College was founded on 3rd February 1957 at the initiative of a number of progressive people of the locality keenly interested in higher education. Since then the college library is satisfying the huge demand of the poor as well as needy users. It is one of the best college library regarding collection as well as providing services to the users of this locality. It has rich collection near about 28000 of books (texts as well as reference) and 12 national journals of different subjects. College also puts at the disposal of students as repository of career guidance books, newspaper and employment news. In addition to wide repository of text and reference books, the library holds bound volume of periodicals and previous year Question papers.

                The library is a member of N-LIST ( a project funded by the MHRD through INFLIBNET) which provides electronic access to huge number of e-journals and e-books. The library provides open access to all teachers, staff and students through we OPAC system.

Services & Facilities

 

  • In the library all sections are given open Access facility.
  • Books are given to users regularly.
  • The newly added resources to library like books, journals, magazine etc are displayed for the convenience of students and faculty members so that they could be aware of the updated library collections.
  • Library provides access to e-journals and e-books through N-LIST
  • Reading room facility is available for students as well as for faculty members, ex-students and ex-staff.
  • Computer facility is available for students as well as staff also.
  • The library catalogue of books and other library materials can be accessed through WebOPAC.
  • Career guidance and counseling service are also given to users.

 

Rules & Regulations

Library Hours 

Monday to Friday                             -              10.45 AM - 4.45 P.M.

Saturday                                              -              10.45 AM - 2.00 P.M.

  • Reading room facility is available from 11 A.M. - 4.30 P.M. on all working days.
  • Library remains closed on Sundays and Public Holidays only as per University List.
  • All teaching, Non-teaching staff members and students are the members of the Library.
  • All teaching staffs is allowed to lend maximum 25 books from the Library. However holding of books for more than 30 days, renewal is obligatory.
  • The administrative staff members, library staff, laboratory assistants are allowed to borrow not more than 8 books at a time for 1 month.

For Student members : 

  • Honours students can borrow two books at a time depending on the availability of the same in the library for 15 days, which can be further renewed for a maximum period of another 15 days.
  • General students can borrow one book from library for 15 days for home use. However if needed it can be renewed for a maximum period of another 15 days.
  • The casual students are not allowed to borrow books but they have to use library reading room.
  • Students can be issued their lending books for maximum two times provided that books have not been on demand by any other members of the library.
  • Overdue charge for the students is Rs.1.00 per day per book.
  • No journals/Magazines are issued for home.
  • In case of any emergency need, special permission is to be taken from the Principal/TIC.
  • In case of loss of library book, the latest edition of the lost book is to be replaced to the library.
  • Decision on out of print books will be taken by the Library Committee.
  • Borrowed books are to be returned before appearing any semester Examination. No mark sheet will be issued unless library clearance is issued by the library staff.

General Rules


  • Library card is compulsory for all enrolled students for availing of Libray facilities.
  • In case of any grievances student can put complaint in the box kept inside the reading room which will be addressed by the Librarian/Library Committee.
  • No admission is permitted in study Room without proper Library Reading room card.
  • Books/any material issued in the study room will have to be returned before leaving the study room.
  • Books will issued in Reading Room can be returned within 4.30 P.M. Lending Services are open to students from Monday to Saturday.
  • Reference books can be used within the library reading room only.
  • Use of Internet is allowed for educational/academic purpose within the permission of the Librarian. The students are not allowed to use any social networking sites, playing games etc.

The library rules framed above are subject to change from time to time as when Library Committee deems it necessary to reframe the same.
