Nabagram Hiralal Paul College is one of the largest constituent colleges of the University of Calcutta. The college was founded by Late Hiralal Paul , who spent his magnificent life emphasizing the importance of knowledge on 3rd February,1957. Nabagram Hiralal Paul College is a premier institution dedicated to teaching and research. It has highly qualified academicians who impart education in Science, Commerce, and Arts at Undergraduate and Post-Graduate levels to more than 3500 students. The college has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities. The college has completed 66 years in the realm of imparting higher education. It has made significant and unparalleled contributions in terms of producing scholars, bureaucrats, intellectuals, and sportsperson serving in different domains in our own country. Over the years, the college has built up an impressive infrastructure. It includes a well- stocked Central Library, Departmental Libraries for science, commerce and art  subjects and a Book Bank for needy students. The college has as many as 113 computers, 2 Science and 2 computer laboratories. Its sports facilities include a vast sports field which includes a football, Cricket field, an indoor multi-gymnasium. The college has a modern air-conditioned Auditorium fitted with the latest sound & light systems, and a seating capacity of 300 persons along host dignitaries and guests. Besides, the air-conditioned Seminar Rooms have a seating capacity of 60 people and are fitted with state-of-the- art sound and projection systems. The college is equipped with all functional amenities such as 24-hour power back-up, Water cooler. The quiet, serene ambiance of a lovely campus surrounded by lush green fields and a gorgeous edifice touches your soul as you reach the doors of this institution. The college offers a number of scholarships to deserving students. Nabagram Hiralal Paul College stands at the cusp between the past and the future today.   • The college faces a shortage of funds needed for up-taking more add-on courses and other educational initiatives.
  • Traditional courses are becoming less attractive  and less popular resulting into poor class room attendance.
  • Low motivational levels of students and the absence of mechanism for the abysmally low enrollment in the pure science classes.
  • Lack of industrial opportunities for placement.
  • Large number of vacancies in the support staff pattern.
  • The college does not have the provision for directly enrolling Ph.D  Scholars thereby restricting its research potential.

  • Enhancing the enrollment in the science subjects does really pose a challenge.

  • To set up more skill aligned self-financing programmes for undergraduate students.
  • To improve the use of ICT based pedagogical tools for teaching and learning process.
  • Managing day-to-day administrative works with inadequate full-time non-teaching staff and dependance on teachers appointed on substantive basis.
  • Revenue generation to match growth and development.
