Placement Cell of Nabagram Hiralal Paul College

           The Placement Cell of Nabagram Hiralal Paul College, Kolkata creates a platform where students can showcase their talents which different companies seek to explore and utilize. Starting from 2013, we have placed a substantial number of graduates who have appeared for placements. This year especially, the performance has been overwhelming. The Placement Cell is headed by Dr. Srikanta Samanta, Principal and Dr. Bishan Sanyal, the Co-ordinator. The Cell is led by the Placement Advisory Committee which consists of Professors and final year students from various departments.

           Initially companies like Magic Bus Foundation, Naandi Foundation of Mahindra, Pantaloons,  Flipkart etc. are invited to take part in the recruitment drive. Interested companies like Magic bus Foundation -an NGO of Barclays Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding with us to provide training and place our students in different companies. B. voc students are sent for walk-in-interview for five- and three-star hotels and restaurants like Hotel Taj, Oberoi Grand, Hyatt, JW Marriot, Hotel Rainessant in Goa.  We sent our students to placement drive organised by Tata Consultancy service at TCS Gitanjali Park Office on 12th July, 2023 through notification in website and informing them through website. register with us for recruitment, for the year. The students are intimated and a vast number register for the interview. We are also registered member of Internshala, New Delhi for Internship Program.

           The interview process usually starts with a presentation where the company enlightens the students about their company profile. Those interested then go for the interview, which usually comprises a written test followed by group discussion and personal interview.

           The job scenario today is facing the onslaught of ground breaking competition from all fields; and employment into good companies and organizations has become a daunting task. So, for the benefit of its students preparing to face the job market, the Nabagram Hiralal Paul College Placement Cell has risen to the occasion and has aided in providing opportunities and employment to its outgoing students.

           With the relentless support of the staff and the students associated with the placement cell and most significantly Dr. Dominic Savio, Principal at the helm, we strive to reach a step closer to our ultimate goal of getting maximise placements for our students.

The Placement Cell begins the process with the registration of willing students for recruitment, mostly final year and Alumni students. The process is conducted by the Placement Cell through google form. . Students of Bvoc also apply to concerned teachers of B.Voc as they want to help out conduct and manage placement activities. The members contact various corporate and human resource personnel regarding the organization of campus drives. Companies begin with the pre-placement talks followed by the group discussion and interview rounds. Once the recruitment process is completed, students are intimated about their selection within suitable time. Different companies may have different selection criteria and processes for students. Agencies like Naandi Foundations conducted Mahindra Pride Classroom Employability Skill Training Program exclusively for female students from 12th to 18th May, 2023. Mr. Shuvojyoti Sen provided excellent training for those few days. Magic Bus Foundation conducted a 24 hours livelihood program coined as ‘Connect With Work”(CWW) 8th to 11th June, 2022 and  7th to 10th August, 2023.

The Placement Cell reaches out to the students via respective WhatsApp groups. Regular website notifications are posted for important updates as well. A great number of new as well as regular companies visited our college for Placement this year. We are trying to encourage students working at companies on various internship offers. Enthusiasm on the part of final year students should be more when the placement season starts off. Students must come forward with their queries regarding companies, placement procedures and the Placement Cell members readily help them.

This year has been better for placements and with the economic growth reviving; we expect to invite even more companies next year. The support from the College has been extremely encouraging.
